If you have not done so, volunteer to have a load switch attached to your electric hot water heater.  Become a part of the Otsego Electric Cooperative Load Switch Energy Saver Program and save yourself and the cooperative money on future power purchases.

There is no cost for you. The switch allows the co-op to turn off the water heater for periods of time during times of the day when the demand for electricity peaks.

Over 400 of your fellow Otsego Electric Co-op members have already had load switches installed. We need more volunteers: more switches will mean more savings, which keeps bills lower for everyone.

MONEY SAVING BONUS: If you allow the co-op to control your electric water heater, you qualify for a credit of up to $2 per month.

NOTE:  If a member is inconvenienced by a load control switch, attempts will be made to resolve the issue. Monthly credit will terminate if the switch is removed.

Co-op members with a load switch installed rarely notice when their water heater is being controlled. This means that, without any interruption in comfort or hot water, the co-op and the members are saving money.

Reducing electrical use during demand peaks saves money; it is these savings which are shared directly with the members who have load control switches, and indirectly with all co-op members.
